What is the Arctic Inspiration Prize ?

The Arctic Inspiration Prize (AIP) is the largest annual prize in Canada. By celebrating and providing seed-funding to Northern teams with innovative project ideas, the AIP supports Northerners in bringing initiatives to life that bring about the changes they want to see in their communities.

The Arctic Inspiration Prize is by the North and for the North and is a community of people and groups, including Indigenous organizations, academia, governments, non-governmental organizations, industry, philanthropy, media and arts and culture organizations, who share a common goal: to recognize northern innovation and excellence and encourage teamwork for the betterment of life in Canada’s North.

All Arctic, an Inuit-led non-profit organization, nominated by Makivvik Corporation

All Arctic, an Inuit-led non-profit organization, has been nominated and became finalist for the Arctic Inspiration Youth Prize. Pita Aatami, the President of Makivvik Corporation, graciously nominated this Program to enter the competitive prize as a nominee.

Our territory faces unique challenges and opportunities as technology rapidly transforms industries critical to northern life—logistics, environmental monitoring, resource development, and even sovereignty. The Arctic Drone Soccer Program introduces our youth to these technologies in a way that is practical, exciting, and culturally relevant. Through this program, participants learn to assemble, code, repair, and fly drones while developing confidence, creativity, and problem-solving skills. These experiences not only inspire students to stay engaged in school but also open pathways to careers in aviation, STEM, and emerging northern industries.

Change in action, only possible with a strong team

A forward-looking Program, for the youth

At All Arctic, we know that the youth are holders, shapers, and contributors of the future. Our youth delegate, Asiva Papigatuk, from Salluit, has been actively engaging with and contributing to the Qaulirmat Youth Leadership Program, which he has been a part of for the past 4 years. Over the school gaps, which include the summer vacation period, the Holiday season, and March break, youth of the Qaulirmat Youth Leadership Program have been reiterating their need to voice their opinions, collaborate together, and keep being active in their home communities. The Arctic Drone Soccer Program is meant to be a new exciting component of this Leadership Program in Nunavik. Currently, this Program is fostered in the communities of Quaqtaq, Puvirnituq, and Salluit. Asiva, as a youth leader, has been promoting and sharing the importance of education and leadership in his home community. Through this Program, he has successfully caught his first caribou, during a group hunting/fishing trip. Our team would like to thank the Arctic Inspiration Prize for supporting this Program, which only serves to inspire and help us grow the work we do in our home communities.
